Delegation of the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission on the visit of Belgrade

The delegation from Guyana which visited the Republic Geodetic Authority expressed their wish to get to know the capital of Serbia better. In the first presentation during their study visit, they highlighted the connection between our two countries and that belonging to the Non-Aligned Movement is one of the touch points in the historical development of our countries.

On the first day of the visit, representatives of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana were in the sightseeing of Belgrade led by Maja Radović, Public Relations Advisor from RGA. On that occasion, colleagues from Guiana visited the buildings of the Old Palace and the New Palace, and today in those buildings are located Office of the President of the Republic and Assembly of the City of Belgrade. Also, on that occasion they met with the work of our nobleman Ivo Andric and visited his monument near the apartment in which he lived.

They then visited Nikola Pasic’s square and the building of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

After a short break they made in the oldest city pastry shop, where they met with the culinary delights of our country, they visited the St. Mark's Church. Walk along the Boulevard of King Alexander, they saw the University Complex, the Faculty of Law, the University Library, which was built under the patronage of the famous American industrialist Carnegie, who also left his endowments in Guyana.

They also visited the Building of Electrical, Construction, Geodetic and Architectural Faculties.

With the great pleasure they took a photo next to the monument of our famous scientist Nikola Tesla.

At the end of the tour of Belgrade during the first day, they went to St. Sava Temple in Vračar and visited the crypt that made an impression on them.

On the second day of their stay in Belgrade, the managers of the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission were guests of TV Studio B.

The Republic Geodetic Authority especially want to thank the director of Studio B Ivana Vučićević and the management of that TV station, which enabled our colleagues to have access to the famous "Beograđanka" sightseeing with an impressive view of our capital.

After the formal part of the study visit, a sightseeing of Belgrade was continued. On this occasion the Republic Geodetic Authority especially wishes to thank the Director of the Museum of Yugoslavia Mr. Neda Knežević and the museum curators on the organization of the visit and exceptional guidance through the exhibition and the House of Flowers.

After a short break, the delegation went on a visit to the Historical Museum of Serbia where the exhibition "The End of the Great War 1917-1918" is being held. On this occasion, the Republic Geodetic Authority especially thanks the director of the museum Dr. Dušica Bojić and the staff, and especially the curator who made the tour of the exhibition extraordinary. Our colleagues from Guyana was impressed with the setting and the role of Serbia in the First World War.

The most beautiful part of the Belgrade was left for end of tour. That was the Kalemegdan Fortress, the simbol of Belgrade monument "Pobednik" and the most impressive view in town, at the confluence of the Sava River into the Danube.
